Dear Birth Parents

Dear Birth Parents,

We know you are at a challenging time in your life, and we admire your courage in the face of the difficult decision you are making.  It is impossible for us to imagine how you must be feeling at this time.  We greatly appreciate the tremendous amount of love you have for your child, and we are honored to be considered as adoptive parents.

Children have always been important to us.  We both grew up in large families with many siblings, and they are all a big part of who we are today.  We are still close to our families, and we know that we can always count on them for support and love.  As parents, we have worked to instill these same values, and we strive to teach the importance and necessity of family relationships to our children.

When we discovered that we would not be able to have our own children, we knew immediately that the best way for us to have a family would be through adoption. In 2006 we were blessed to adopt our sweet daughter Anna, and less than two years later our rambunctious Nathan joined us.  They both bring so much joy to our lives, and we feel privileged to be their parents. They are excited to have a baby brother or sister join them in the near future. We love and cherish our children immensely. We actively teach them about their birth parents, and about the love that motivated their selfless sacrifice. They understand that they are especially blessed to have so many people who love them more than they can imagine.  We have enjoyed keeping in touch with their birth parents through pictures and emails, and we would love to do the same with you if this is something you would like to do.

As children, we were both encouraged to pursue our interests, and our families were supportive and involved in our endeavors. Blair grew up playing soccer, reading, ice-skating, and riding horses.  He also has an appreciation for art and music.  Heidi spends most of her time caring for her family and home.  She is also a fitness instructor and finds group fitness classes very rewarding.  Heidi also enjoys reading, cooking, shopping, and singing in groups and as a soloist.  Together we enjoy a variety of activities, including working out, movies, music, shopping, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.  Anna loves playing the piano, riding horses, singing in her school choir, crafting and having friends over.  Nathan is obsessed with football, loves playing baseball, is active in his Cub Scout den, and always wants to wrestle with his dad. Education is also a very important part of our lives.  Heidi received a Bachelor’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development with a minor in music. This background has been beneficial as a parent and also as she helps our children excel in their school work.  Blair is a horse veterinarian.  Every day is a new adventure, and he gets to bring the kids with him to work from time to time.  We plan on continuing to encourage our children to pursue their talents, interests, and education, and we want to support them in everything they do.

We have experienced so much joy since becoming parents, and we hope to share more of our love with another child in the near future.  Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you throughout this difficult time.  We truly appreciate you and we hope and pray you will find the courage and strength needed at this time.

With much love,

Blair and Heidi
